It’s been a while since I’ve hopped on here but things are finally starting to find a rhythm in my life and I’m taking full advantage to get on here and share the things I love. Writing is so therapeutic and food & wine for me are love languages, which is why it’s so fitting that this recipe and pairing is my first post back!
The other night we were talking about what to make for dinner and everything we came to was a dead end. We had just enough ingredients to start 10 different meals ha ha but we did have stuff for breakfast. I decided to throw together some french toast (which I’ve made one other time and failed) with fresh strawberries and cheesy eggs and peppers. It ended up being the perfect life hack because in the morning, when we had very little time to get out the door and to our appointment at the gym, we had a gourmet breakfast by just warming everything back up. I’m telling you, breakfast for dinner is the best idea on nights that are followed by a busy morning. However, that’s not what this post is about. It’s about Mother’s Day and this last minute meal inspired this idea for a Mother’s Day recipe complete with wine pairing!
French Toast topped with fresh strawberries, orange whipped cream, and a side of bubbles – this SCREAMS Mother’s Day to me! How about you? It’s super simple (because that’s what we do here at B 🙂 and extra delicious. I’ll even drop a recipe for the perfect smoothie pairing if your mom’s not a drinker like mine! Like I mentioned above, this can be made the night before so you can make it ahead and take the day to relax if you’re a mom too. Or even if you’re not 🙂 The absolute best part, is of course, that if you add in those bubbles from ONEHOPE Wine, you are giving back to the non profit Why Hunger feeding hungry children so you are helping mother’s across the United States <3

I used a recipe from iheartnaptime.net for the French Toast, it was simple and delicious so I would highly recommend checking it out. For the topping, strawberries are awesome because they create a sauce when you slice them and sugar them. Just cut them up to begin, sugar them and let them sit, by the time you are ready to eat, you’ll have a sweet strawberry topping.
Top your strawberries with one of these infused whip creams to elevate your french toast in minutes!
- ONEHOPE Wine Napa Valley Moscato – This bottle helps fund health care for farm workers in need
- 1 cup of heavy whipping cream
- 1- 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon of Orange extract
- {Option 1} Fresh grated orange peel
- {Option 2} Skip extract and substitute 1 - 2 tablespoons of Moscato
- Whip Cream until it starts to thicken. Slowly add in sugar and extract or Moscato. Whip until it makes stiff peaks (pull up on beaters and it stays sticking up). Be careful not to over beat or it will get closer to a butter consistency. Top with grated peel for scent and garnish.

What a simple way to WOW mom! Finish with some bubbles and OJ and you have the perfect pairing. Not only is a Brut a wonderful option but a Rose is perfect for the season, try one with notes of Strawberries.
If you prefer a smoothie… Toss all of this in a blender and puree, VOILA!
- 2 Bananas
- 3 Clementines
- 1 Cup of Almond Milk (or your preference)
- {option} 1 Scoop of Tone it up Vanilla Protein (or your favorite kind)
- {option 2} Skip protein and try low sugar Chobani Madagascar Vanilla Greek Yogurt
- Ice
Happy Mother’s Day to all of you amazing momma’s out there! Enjoy your day!!!
